FOR SINGERS
Annual dues are $175 payable in January for the calendar year. Installment plans are available and can be arranged with the Treasurer. If you join the group Jan-June, you owe the full year; if you join July-Dec., dues are $87.50.
Music fees vary with each concert. The Music Director determines how music is made available to members for each concert; for example the Choral Society may purchase the music and resell it to members at cost, or we may be able to borrow music. Although members may have scores in their personal libraries, we make every effort to use the same edition for uniformity of material and page turns. Everyone uses a black folder for concerts. The music is managed by the Music Librarian.
We sing in many languages, including the usual English, Latin, French, German, Spanish - but we have also sung in Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian and Czech. We are adventurous and will try anything!
In general we perform three concerts a year: Holiday Concert for the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church in early December, a second concert in Spring, and a third in early summer. Dates very, depending on the activities for the year. We often have additional concert engagements.
Men: Black tuxedo, white tux shirt, black bow tie, black shoes and socks.
Women: Long-sleeved black dresses or black skirts and long-sleeved black top, jewel neckline, black shoes with black hose. No jewelry or revealing tops.
We ask that no one use cologne and/or perfumeor other scented products.
Rehearsals are held in Buswell Hall at the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church on the corner of Rodeo Dr. and Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 Sunday evenings or per the current schedule. Parking is free on adjacent streets. We have one break and sign up to bring treats and coffee. Attendance is expected and you are asked to discuss any absences with your Section Leader.
